Global Threads
An installation by Virginia Harper Design for Salon Art + Design 2025
Description:
Global Threads is a sculptural environment that explores how art, craft, and human connection intertwine. Suspended woven screens made of cord, fabric, and light form layered portals that evoke the act of weaving — both literal and symbolic.
Visitors are invited to take a bracelet from the installation, carrying with them a small thread from the collective weave — a gesture that transforms the piece over time and underscores the idea of shared participation.
Created in collaboration with Costantini Design for the custom metal and woven structures and Carolina Malabet for the ephemeral floral elements, the installation transforms the historic Park Avenue Armory entrance into a warm, tactile, and communal space.
Through color, material, and motion, Global Threads celebrates the enduring connections between people, process, and place — and how design, at its best, binds us together.
